Rhum Arrangé – Exotic Delight in a Bottle

Welcome to our culinary journey! This is a tropical-infused rum inspired by the traditional rhum arrangé from La Réunion. Made with pineapple, banana, coconut, and cinnamon, this beverage captures the essence of the island's vibrant flavors. The combination of these fruits and spices creates a delicious and aromatic drink that is perfect for sipping on a warm day or as a unique addition to cocktails. This rhum arrangé needs time to develop its full flavor, making it a delightful and rewarding homemade treat.

Ingredients:

▫️ 1 liter white rum
▫️ 1 ripe pineapple
▫️ 2 ripe bananas
▫️ 100 g coconut flesh
▫️ 2 cinnamon sticks
▫️ 200 g brown sugar

Instructions:

Preparing the Fruits:
  • Peel the pineapple, remove the hard core, and cut the flesh into small pieces.
  • Peel the bananas and slice them.
  • Cut the coconut flesh into small pieces.
Assembling the Rhum Arrangé:
  • In a large mason jar (1.5 liters or larger), add the pineapple pieces, banana slices, and coconut flesh.
  • Add the cinnamon sticks.
  • Evenly sprinkle the brown sugar over the fruits.
Adding the Rum:
  • Pour the white rum into the jar until the fruits are completely covered.
  • Close the jar tightly and shake well to dissolve the sugar.
Aging Process:
  • Store the jar in a cool, dark place for at least 1 month.
  • Occasionally shake the jar to better distribute the flavours.

After the aging period, strain the rhum arrangé through a fine sieve or cheesecloth to remove the fruits and spices.
