Ingredients:
▫️ 1 kg minced beef or lamb ▫️ 1 large onion, finely chopped ▫️ 2 slices of white bread ▫️ 1 cup milk ▫️ 2 tablespoons curry powder ▫️ 1 tablespoon apricot jam ▫️ 2 tablespoons chutney ▫️ 1 tablespoon vinegar ▫️ Salt and pepper to taste ▫️ 1/2 cup raisins (optional) ▫️ Oil for frying
For the topping:
▫️ 3 large eggs ▫️ 1 cup milk ▫️ 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder for color (optional)
Instructions:
Preheat the oven: Preheat your oven to 180°C.
Prepare the bread: Soak the bread slices in 1 cup of milk until soft. Mash the bread into a pulp.
Make the filling:
Heat oil in a pan and sauté the chopped onions until translucent.
Add the minced meat and cook until browned.
Mix in the curry powder, apricot jam, chutney, vinegar, salt, pepper, and soaked bread. Stir well to combine.
If using raisins, add them to the mixture.
Bake the filling: Transfer the meat mixture to a greased ovenproof dish and press it down evenly.
Prepare the topping: In a separate bowl, beat the eggs and mix in the milk and turmeric powder.
Finish and bake:
Pour the egg mixture over the meat filling, ensuring it covers the entire surface.
Bake in the preheated oven for about 30-40 minutes or until the topping is set and golden brown.
Serve:
Remove from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes before slicing.
